Sr. communication captain practice guide
Many candidates felt unprepared for the Sr. Communications Captain exam due to lack of realistic study tools. I designed a guide with 100+ practice questions, 10 scenario prompts, and answer keys with citations from recommended reading materials.
Canva was utilized for design and organization. Chat GPT helped with locating citations. Google Docs is where I organized my information
The Problem.
Many communications professionals preparing for the Sr. Communications Captain exam lacked access to relevant and realistic practice materials tailored to the actual competencies tested.
The Solution
To bridge the gap, I created a self-guided practice journal and quiz booklet aligned with ten key knowledge areas covered in the test: from public safety protocols to interpersonal communication. Each section includes:
10+ multiple-choice questions
1–2 scenario-based prompts
Detailed answer sheets with cited textbook references (including page numbers)
This allows candidates to not only test their knowledge but also understand why an answer is correct—directly from the source material.
The structure promotes self-paced review, making it accessible to both new and veteran staff, and flexible enough to be used independently or during team study sessions.
